DOCKS @ SOUTH LAKE MALL. 2014. while at the LAB at Rockwell Group

DESCRIPTION:

The Docks at Southlake Mall is an interactive installation at the central atrium of the Southlake Mall in Merrillville, Indiana. The installation creates a playful and engaging third place for shoppers to rest at, and take a break from a busy day of shopping. The Docks is a surprise interlude in the day where fantasy, magic and the real world become one.

The experience is built off the metaphor of a river - with artfully composed seating elements around digital LED 'river beds'. Strategically placed ipad stations allow visitors to create digital koi and lotus blooms to send into the river. Visitors can playfully throw skipping stones from the ipads into the river. Vertical LED blades, contain digital tree sprites that collect together when a visitor stands before them to form colorful silhouettes.
